Biography:

Tauriel is a character created for Peter Jackson's film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's *The Hobbit*. She first appears in *The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug* (2013).

She is a Woodland Elf, specifically a Silvan Elf, and captain of the guard for the Elvenking Thranduil in the forest realm of Mirkwood in Middle Earth. Unlike many Elves in positions of authority, she is not of noble birth.

Tauriel is portrayed as a skilled warrior, proficient in archery and swordsmanship. A significant part of her storyline involves a romantic subplot with the Dwarf Kili, which is a departure from Tolkien's original narrative.
